Polyphor's FBDD process
In recent years, Fragment Based Drug Design FBDD has been used both by industry and academia as an alternative approach for the identification of useful starting points for drug discovery programs.
The combination of our structurally interrelated Polyphor Fragment Library and Polyphor Library with Biacore® assay technologies, cheminformatics tools, and X-ray crystallography provides a unique and powerful platform for hit identification via FBDD.
- For soluble proteins Polyphor performs protein expression, purification and protein X-ray crystallography. In many cases, fragments, scaffolds and/or final products can be co-crystallized with the target protein.
- Due to the speed resulting from an established stepwise FBDD process and the limited need to perform chemistry in the lab to obtain an initial elaborated fragment hit, Polyphor's FBDD approach can be used in parallel to other drug discovery approaches.
- In collaborative projects, partners can benefit from Polyphor's extensive experience in obtaining new crystal structures or on a whole series of structures that have already been solved.
